Gorgon
according to myth, the three Gorgons, Stheno, Euryale and Medusa, were terrifying winged women, whose gazed turned whoever saw it into stone. Perseus cut off the head of Medusa, the most terrifying; Minerva then carried it on her shield or breastplate.
